Dry Caveman Challenge

DRY CAVEMAN CHALLENGE
I am proposing the Dry Caveman Challenge. I got the idea from Diablo CrossFit who do it every year. This will be a voluntary “alcohol abstination competition” – an extension of popular ancestral diets…PALEO! If they weren’t bakin’ bread, Cavemen sure as heck weren’t brewin’ the juice! It starts on September 20th and goes through Halloween, ending on November 2nd. It’s a great way to detox, lose the stubborn pounds, and check-in with ourselves. This will be a volunteer challenge. It is open to ALL, not just CFS members. And all you have to do to is commit. If you decide to withdraw during the time of this challenge, you will need to perform a penalty workout. Yes, a single drink causes you to withdraw from the challenge.

Why participate?
The list of positive reasons to participate is long, but the most important reason reasons are your health, both short-term and long-term! We do CrossFit so that we can be healthy, yet the evidence is overwhelming that alcohol inhibits health & wellness. You’re very likely going to lose weight, feel better and make gains.

As CrossFitters, our fitness exceeds that of many of our friends, family and peers, so it’s easy to overlook the adverse effects of alcohol consumption. However, many of us probably know family and friends whose lives have been affected by alcohol. The Dry Caveman is a great way to “check in” on yourself.

Most people are very surprised at how difficult it is to not drink: with friends, at sporting events, with family, at parties, or maybe even after work. Warning: you may be surprised by the reaction of your friends and family!

In the end, you’ll learn a lot about yourself, improve your health and gain a sense of accomplishment! HAVE FUN and STAY DRY.

Oh yeah, and did  I mention the after party?! Not many of you have had the pleasure of experiencing my culinary skills, so I’ll be throwing a potluck after party on Saturday, November 5th. I’ll supply the brisket! All successful participants are invited to partake. All you have to do is pay the cover charge: 6 weeks of not drinking A SINGLE DRINK.

The Rules
Start date: Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 12:00AM
End date: Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 12:00PM

At the start date, you may not consume alcoholic beverages until the finish date & time. Participation is VOLUNTARY, however, in the event you elect to withdraw from the competition, you must complete the Penalty WOD. Both participation in the challenge and withdrawing by doing the penalty WOD are completely VOLUNTARY. The honor code goes a long way at CrossFit South, and I’d like to think that integrity holds high value amongst our community.
