CFS Sweatshop is the latest group class offering from CrossFit South specifically designed for individuals who want the constantly varied, high-intensity aspects of Crossfit without the heavy lifting.
If you find the thought of regular Crossfit classes intimidating, CFS Sweatshop is a great way to build up your endurance, strength, and core using basic bodyweight movements, plyometrics, running, rowing, kettlebells, dumbbells, and med balls — it’s a great introduction to the Crossfit methodology and you can jump right in – no intro classes needed!
Here at Crossfit South, our daily programming is built around a framework of strength movements—squats, presses, deadlifts, and the Olympic lifts. While we believe that virtuosity in these movements is an important part of your athletic development, we understand that not everyone shares our enthusiasm for barbell lifting. That’s where CFS Sweatshop comes in. These challenging, high-intensity bootcamp-style workouts will keep you moving, utilizing a variety of bodyweight movements and lighter weights. Make no mistake: This class isn’t a walk in the park. It’s Crossfit..only lighter!
What is the difference between your intro courses, CrossFit, and Sweatshop?
Our Intro Courses focus on strength/skill development, movement progressions, and conditioning, preparing individuals for training in our regular 1-hour Crossfit classes. CrossFit classes consist of group warm ups, skill work (either for strength or technique) and a WOD (workout of the day). Our Sweatshop class is a 45 minute class that is less skill-based and is more focused on metabolic conditioning and core strength (abs!). Each class consists of a warm up, movement review, a workout, and a cool-down focusing on corework. While all our paths are beginner-friendly, some individuals may want to “get in shape” a little before joining the CrossFit classes. CFS Sweatshop will do just that! With Sweatshop, you can start whenever you’d like and stay in it for as long as you want. No need to move on to regular classes if you don’t want to. Not sure which class is right for you? Who is Sweatshop for?
Like all of our classes, CFS Sweatshop is for any individual and can be scaled to ALL fitness levels. CFS Sweatshop is especially for:
- Fitness beginners who are interesting in our CrossFit classes but want to build up some conditioning and basic strength first. This is a way for people to test the waters first.
- Fit individuals who are tired of the globogym scene and want the variety and intensity of Crossfit without the more technical lifts.
- Crossfit athletes who need a break from barbell lifting or deconditioned Crossfit athletes coming back after taking time off.
- Individuals who have an injury that prevents them from lifting heavy weight but still want to get in shape.
